How The Credit Crisis Has Hit Me
In early 2008, though I was only earning about $1200 a month at the time, about a $1,000 a month less than my living expenses, I had access to about $100,000 worth of credit via various credit cards.
More credit card offers came every week or two.
Well, the times have changed.
I have $25,000 worth of credit card debt. I rarely get credit card offers anymore, though American Express does send me one every once in a while.
I wrote my first book on my credit cards. I went up to my limit, up to about $20,000 in debt, which I carried from 1996-1998, when I started making $3,000 a month starting in April of that year from my website Lukeford.com.
For eight of the next nine years, I had a steady income in that range. I paid off all my credit cards in 2000 and did not go back into debt until 2008, after I had left lukeisback.com and tried to earn an honorable livelihood.
